Mediterranean living with a private garden, plenty of peace and a touch of the south

Anyone who travels with children knows that short distances make all the difference. At Chalet Palme you park right outside the door, the playground is just a few steps away, and your own garden starts at your parking space. 75 m² of living space for up to six guests, plus a 65 m² Mediterranean garden with palm trees. The chalet is in Riffian, a seven-minute drive from the spa town of Merano.

Short distances for families

The parking space belongs to the chalet, so you unload right at the door instead of carrying suitcases across the farmyard. That sounds like a small thing until you have tried it with a pushchair, a travel cot and three bags.
The playground is within sight: the children play while you stay sitting in the garden. And a few steps further on, our free-range hens roam outdoors, so you get a fresh breakfast egg every morning.

The Mediterranean garden

65 square metres, your own palm trees, sun loungers and a parasol. The covered dining area holds up even in a summer shower, and the private gas barbecue is waiting for the evening.

Room for up to 6 guests

A double room for the parents, a triple room with a bunk bed for the children, plus a sofa bed in the living area. With two bathrooms with rain showers, there is no queue in the morning.

The kitchen-living room has everything a family holiday needs: ceramic hob, large fridge, dishwasher, coffee machine, kettle and toaster. Even so, you don’t need to shop for breakfast. We bring you bread rolls on request, and the farm shop sells produce from our own farm.

Riffian – Merano in just a few minutes

Riffian lies at the entrance to the Passeier Valley, at the foot of the Texel Group Nature Park. The seven-minute drive to Merano is easy with children: for the thermal baths with their children’s area, the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, or simply an ice cream under the arcades of the old town.

The Merano–Passeier cycle path runs right past our front door: flat, traffic-free and easy to ride even with younger children. Our rental bikes and accessories are ready for you. On foot, you can follow the Passer embankment path along the river or head more steeply up the Rösslsteig. In winter, the Naif valley station is a ten-minute drive away, from where you go up to Meran 2000, which also has beginner slopes.

Included for all chalet guests

The heated pool is around 28 degrees and open from April to early November, warm enough that children don’t turn blue after ten minutes. Next to it is the sunbathing lawn, and a few steps further on the playground. The hot tub at 32 degrees tends to belong to the parents. The Finnish sauna is free from October to March and available for a small surcharge in summer. And in the morning, the children usually fetch the breakfast egg from the hens themselves.

Is Chalet Palme right for you?

Chalet Palme is a good fit if you are travelling with children and value short distances: from the car to the door, from the door to the garden, from the garden to the playground.

If you would rather spend the day in the shade of a vine pergola, Chalet Hortensie has a 95 m² private garden. And for a holiday for two there is Chalet Rose with its four-poster bed and private roof terrace.
